Lots of activity today. Scott continued to install the trim and hung two of the doors, to the laundry room and to the bedroom. He also began installing the railings for the stairway.

A tile guy laid down the tile for the bathroom. Scott won’t be able to finish the trim until the bathroom tile work is completed.

Today work also began on the stucco repair.

Scott came today to start the trim work. Both the bedroom and the living area were nearly completed.

They will be staining the trim in place.
Today there wasn’t any work done although we did get a delivery. The five doors arrived along with the bathroom vanity, the bathroom tile and the trim.

Hopefully work will resume tomorrow.
Today the painter arrived and applied a coat of primer. The primer was tinted for the walls to get an idea of what the rooms will look like and let us make any changes, if necessary. The ceilings will be white, with beige for the walls of the living area and bedroom and green in the bathroom. We’re happy with the colors that we chose. He also primed the landing at the top of the stairs.

He’ll be returning tomorrow to apply a coat of paint.
Monty sanded all the walls today. The drywall work is now complete. The rooms are now ready to be painted.

Based on Scott’s estimates, there’s probably about three weeks of work left. Painting will probably take three days or so with priming and then a couple of coats. Trim needs to be installed. Carpet will be laid on the floors of the living area and bedroom. The bathroom floor receives tile and the fixtures, cabinet, and vanity need to be installed. The electrician will return to install the fixtures and finish connecting all the outlets. The bathroom exhaust fan and the energy recovery ventilator also need to be installed and connected. Three weeks sounds about right.
Monty today applied the texturing to the ceilings of the three rooms:

The texturing style is called “knockdown.” He also added another coat of mud to the basement stairway walls:

He’ll probably finish up tomorrow with sanding the walls.
The drywallers continued with their mudding and sanding work. They added another coat of mud on the walls of the basement stairway.

In order to facilitate the drying of the new coats that were applied, they turned up the heat in the basement and turned on a dehumidifier. They also have a fan running to circulate the air in the basement.

I expect that the drywall crew has another day of work to do.
Today the crew sanded taping and dried mudding from yesterday. They also continued the mudding work by filling in the nail holes and finished mudding other areas including the existing walls of the back door landing leading down to the basement stairs.

They should be able to finish everything up tomorrow.
The drywall installer finished taping and mudding today. He left the dehumidifier on to help it dry overnight. Hopefully he will be able to sand tomorrow.

Scott came today to clean up the basement and get his tools. His work has been completed and he’s off to another job. With the drywall installed we have a much better idea about what the space will be like. The finished basement is going to give us a lot more space and the kids already love it.

Scott told us that the laundry room is pretty much finished. He put the poly back up at the doorway to keep the dust out of the area. Not sure if there will be any more drywall work in the mechanical room. Anyway, we’ll find out next week.

He also cleaned up our backyard and reinstalled the fencing that was taken done to permit access to the backyard. It looks like we have our backyard back, just in time for the Spring. Now we need to find where our grill is. We also need to reseed some areas that were destroyed during the construction. Scott also removed some stonework that was falling apart. In addition to the stucco work, we will also have some stonework done to the two front corners of the house where some long term moisture damage has occurred.
